S&F Hero: Military Art: The Suwałki Corridor as a Subject of Self-Obfuscation (Podcast)

Dr. Petersen recollects experiences that led him and others working at the DIA to believe the Soviets are developing a new military doctrine that could have threatened the NATO forces in Europe. Back in those days much attention has been devoted to the Fulda Gap, with many believing that this was the be all end all threat for the Western Europe. Petersen and his colleagues proved, that for the Soviets Fulda was a tactical, rather than strategic challenge, as the ultimate goal of the Soviet General Staff involved massive encircling of NATO troops. Today this issue of misunderstanding adversary’s intentions and, as dr. Petersen argues, self-obfuscation, once again presents itself against the backdrop of the Suwalki Corridor in North Eastern Poland.
