In autumn, the situation in the region deteriorated. On September 27th, the month and a half long Nagorno-Karabakh War began. The geopolitical consequences of the war were detrimental for Armenia, and have not been settled so far. The country fell totally under the control of Moscow, hence increasing Russian military presence in the Southern Caucasus.
